Actor/musician/comedian Reggie Watts and director Benjamin Dickinson sit down with The Creators Project’s Beckett Mufson to chat about the duo’s latest movie, Creative Control, a science fiction feature about augmented reality gone awry.

The protagonist of the film, David, is heavily influenced by Dickinson’s own history in the industry. When David is assigned to make a campaign for Augmenta, “the first believable augmented reality interface,” he is given the ultimate tool for constructing his own reality. Reggie Watts plays a version of himself in the future who, too, gets a pair of the uncanny glasses. The film offers thoughtful ideas to those concerned about how art and creativity will persist in a world dominated by “perfect” technology.
In our interview, we dig into Watts’ character, his views on creativity and human nature, and how Dickinson’s film tackles the dystopian future from a new perspective.
