A bus carrying Turkish soccer club Fenerbahce was apparently attacked by an armed pack of ultras from their rival Trabzonspor. Fenerbahce beat Rizespor 5-1 in Super Lig action earlier today and on the way to Trabzon for a flight to Istanbul, the bus was attacked and the bus driver was seriously injured. There have been some conflicting reports, with the Mayor of Trabzon (home to Trabzonspor) claiming the damage was caused by rocks, but a Turkish state-run press agency says the attacker used a shotgun.

The attack appears to have taken place over a viaduct and had the team not taken over the steering wheel after the bus driver was hit, it could have careened over.

The club initially thought the driver had been killed, but later reports indicate he was taken to the hospital where doctors reportedly found a piece of metal lodged in his temporal bone. In the video and images from the scene you can see what look like bullet holes in the windshield, broken glass on the driver’s side window, and blood on the floor beneath the steering wheel.

This is the bus driver leaving the bus, and it looks like he is gushing blood from his nose and mouth. He was later listed in stable condition.
