Mogwai Has £10,000 Worth Of Gear Nicked!

Hardcore may never die, but it *can* get jacked out from under you.

Hey. Guess what. People are dicks. And not just in the United States. All over the world, people are dicks.

Case in point: last Saturday, some Scottish dicks stole about £10,000 of equipment from legendary post-rock instrumentalists Mogwai's Glasgow studio while they were on tour in Australia. That's about $16,000 USD. In addition to a Fender acoustic guitar, a Fender '72 Telecaster, and a slew of bass and guitar amps, the thieves made off with guitarist Stuart Braithwait's iconic Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar, valued somewhere bewteen £1,000 and £2,500 ($1,600 to $4,000 USD).

In addition to alerting the authorities, Mogwai has also taken to their social media outlets for support, and the response has been overwhelming.

So this is where we call on you! Sure, the chances of one of you somehow stumbling upon enough stolen equipment to pay your rent for a year is slim to none, but hey, it can't hurt, right? Below is a rundown of what has been officially reported missing (as of Saturday; the band still has to survey the extent of the thievery). If you happen to have any leads or information, holler at the Strathclyde Police Department: 0141 532 3222

Stay safe, stay vigilant. Godspeed.
