Late in the first half against the Cowboys, Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette took a vicious hit on punt coverage that left him knocked out on the turf. Cowboys safety Jeff Heath leveled the hit, which looked clean, but was flagged for a blindside block. Mike Pereira explained his off-camera discussion with VP of officiating Dean Blandino, and described it as a heavy point of emphasis on kick returns that is treated similarly to defenseless receivers.

Things got a little hairy after the hit as both teams emptied from the sidelines and got involved in a few shouting matches, but it dissipated pretty quickly as everyone remembered Lockette was laid out on the turf. He eventually regained consciousness and was strapped to a stretcher and carted off the field. He raised his arms up and acknowledged the crowd as he was taken off.
