Winter finally hit the eastern seaboard this week, so what better way to warm up then with a new mix by Ricky Eat Acid (aka Sam Ray)? The Baltimore-based electronic artist—who released the excellent single “Dear Lord” last month—made us a 54-minute grab bag of his favourite tracks of 2015. Bruising hip-hop anthems (Pusha T, Vince Staples), THUMP favourites (Hudson Mohawke, Kelela, Sophie), and R&B singer-songwriter Jeremih’s hymnal “Paradise” all share space here, and the mix features killer artwork from Detroit artist Nate James.
“A lot of really, really cool music came out this year and I can’t even begin to cover everything I loved in just one mix, no matter how sprawling,” Ray tells THUMP. “I wanted to include something by Future, because he had the greatest year ever, but I got too stressed out trying to pick a specific song. Still, here’s a whole bunch of songs I loved this year anyway. I hope that you like them all too.”
