Check Out This Incredible Archive of Classic Grime Sets

Everything you need to catch up on the history of the UK's hottest export since fish and chips.

Grime's having something of a renaissance in the UK of late, led by an influx of young producers and MCs drawing on the genre's history for their fresh sound. If the hints of grime production bubbling up in the work of influential stateside artists like Fatima Al-Qadiri and Helix are any indication, the U.S. is primed for a grime explosion of its own—stay ahead of the game with this incredible archive of grime sets compiled by rising label Butterz in 2011. This collection's got everything from performances at legendary club night FWD>> to classic pirate freestyle sessions on Rinse.fm, all from the genre's greatest producers and MCs. My favorites are #29, featuring Rinse boss Geeneus, and #27, which Butterz-signed producer Royal-T (who we recently interviewed!) described as "one of my favourite grime sets of all time, a really good moment when garage and grime were merging. It's club oriented but still greezy at the same time."
