In what could very well be the Golden Age for struggling musicians trying to get an "in", having a soundcloud and/or a youtube channel may or may not be more advantageous than being backed by a label (and spending time and $$$$ on a studio LP looks a hell of a lot less appealing when you can work on your tracks whenever the hell you want in your bedroom without even putting pants on). There are a seemingly infinite number of ways to get your name out in the "blogosphere" (cue self-loathing), from independently producing/releasing a handful of really solid EPs to being 14-year-old jailbait posting your broody Death Cab covers to youtube (RIP GibbSchanel). Thankfully, Mauro Remiddi, aka Porcelain Raft, is the former.Remiddi is no stranger to critical attention, despite having yet to release a for-realzies LP. Following a series of EPs, including the enchanting Gone Blind via Acéphale Records, Porcelain Raft was signed to leading independent label Secretly Canadian this summer and we've been eagerly awaiting a full-length from the Italian boot-strap-puller-upper ever since.Today, those sneaky canucks finally spilled that the bedroom-popper's debut LP, Strange Weekend, will hit digital shelves on January 24th (guess we know what we're getting our cat for his birthday!). But to tide us over through this distressingly cold fall and inevitably-soul-crushing winter, Porcelain Raft has dropped "Put Me To Sleep", an enveloping slow burn that feels like being cradled to sleep by a giant Snuggy monster -- and if that didn't give you warm-tinglies just thinking about it, well, we'll pray for your cold, black soul.Stream "Put Me to Sleep":
