Introducing Violet Sands and "Coming Back"

Connect with your inner child on this glitch-pop cut from a new trio featuring members from Savoir Adore and French Horn Rebellion.

Violet Sands are a trio new to the world like a freshly baked scone. But as singular entities they're not new to making music. The Brooklyn trio are comprised of Deidre Muro (Savoir Adore), David Perlick-Molinari (French Horn Rebellion), and Derek Muro (Love Like Deloreans, Mighty Five). And yes, Derek and Deidre are siblings. The band were born out of hours spent jamming and shared love of 90s R&B, glitch-pop, and the Cocteau Twins, oh and some sci-fi nerd stuff too. They posted their debut two songs of cut 'n' paste pop online in January and below is their latest: "Coming Back" lifted from their forthcoming debut EP Strange Attractor.

Beginning with what sounds like a wonky fairground waltz run backwards, "Coming Back" is a sweet slice of pop with melodies rich like Say Lou Lou and sonics that stutter and skip in all the right places.

Here's what Deidre had to say about the track:
"The song is a journey of reconnecting with inner truth or the inner child, to acknowledge that you have been negligent of some part of yourself, and that you’re open to returning to the child-like state of the whole. I always had an image of a woman who is waking up from a numb or painful reality, and returns to the house she grew up in, which is abandoned and decaying and overgrown with plants, and she goes in and finds a six year old version of herself in her old bedroom, and that’s who she is singing to as she takes her by the hand out of the house and past human representations of all the distractions and pain in the world and they walk down the street together, looking beyond it all."
