In the fifth inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers last night, the Colorado Rockies executed a play that looks like something straight out of the DVD extras from the Bad News Bears.
Things appeared normal at first: a sacrifice bunt by Dodgers pitcher Kenta Maeda was recovered by Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado, who began to instinctively throw toward first base. But what should have been an easy out instead left Arenado seeing double, as he chose whether to throw to infielder Daniel Descalso or DJ LeMahieu—both of whom stepped on the bag in an attempt to play first base.

LeMahieu realized the error of their ways and left the bag at the last moment, but Arenado threw to him instead of Descalso, allowing Maeda to safely take the base. Fortunately for the Rockies, they were able to overcome this mental lapse and win the game, 1-0.
