Welcome to Alpoko Don's Pen & Table Rap

Even though most rappers claim to not use pens anymore, Alpoko Don still does, just for a slightly different purpose.

Even though most rappers claim to not use pens anymore, Alpoko Don still does, just for a slightly different purpose. Remember that video that popped up a year ago of a Southern dude on his porch tapping out the dopest beat with only a pen—like kids in middle school used to do—and his hands and feet that perfectly complemented his gruffly melodic voice as he cried out to God?

That was South Carolina's Alpoko Don, then known as Dodada, who was seemingly doomed to be a viral one-hit wonder or worse, abandon his style.

Thankfully, Alpoko Don went and recorded an entire album of acoustic rap, or what he calls Pen & Table rap, which is as minimalist and affecting as his YouTube videos. The tape, called The Ol' Soul is really great, and deserves a listen. Why not save that $8 you were going to spend on a burrito and give it to Alpoko Don?

Listen below and go pony up the $8 here.
