We Challenged Childhood to Chat up Random Girls in the Street

The chat-up line is a lost art. It’s rare that anyone – except builders, road-men, and drunk guys in the club – has the balls to engage with a member of the opposite sex. Humans have shunned social interaction in favour of swiping right, direct messages, and passive aggressive Instagram likes: we use the internet to interact with people because it requires less confidence than walking up to a stranger in the street.

This shouldn’t be the status quo; chatting someone up is a thrill because (A) you get a nice little confidence boost and (B) you could end up meeting the love of your life.

SmoothasVelvet is one of the challenges from Ray-Ban’s #TheOrderofNeverHide campaign and as we wanted to find out if you’re still able to find romance on the street, we sent Ben and Jonny from Childhood – whose video premiered on Noisey last week – out on to the streets of London to find some girls.

If you haven’t yet come across #TheOrderOfNeverHide, you’re missing out. Ray-Ban have set up a bunch of challenges that aim to test your bravery and in return you’re able to win prizes. Think tickets to the multi-award winning Bestival and access to The Order Of Never Hide exclusive event.
