It’s National Puppy Day So Here Are Some Snaps of Cool Bands and Their Hot Dogs

We’d like it if every day could be National Puppy Day.

Who doesn’t love a cute dog pic? The short answer is no one. Since Noisey is a music site we figured the best way to celebrate National Puppy Day was to get some cute pics of musicians with their puppies.

We asked these Aussie and Kiwi musicians to share a cute pic and a story about their pup.

Erica Dunn (Palm Springs/The Steve Miller Band) with Poncho

“We are together through thick and thin, better or worse. He is good at listening to songs when I am writing them, and he is not too critical. When I am on stage and I am nervous, or I know I have a difficult song to play, I often think about Poncho asleep on the couch at home and it calms me down. A photo of him and I was on the first set of demos I ever released as Palm Springs, and on our forthcoming cassette there is a song about whether the world would be a better place if it were ruled by dogs.”

Tim Nelson (Cub Sport) with Missy and Evie

“Brandy’s lyrics, ‘Have you ever loved somebody so much it makes you cry,’ come to mind. Missy and Evie brighten every day with their love and humour; I can’t imagine life without them.”

Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin (The Drones) with Foxy, Ralf and Tiger

“Foxy and Ralf are four-year-old smooth Fox Terrier siblings. Ralf got in a fight with a 1.5-metre black snake and won, but it cost about $3,000 and a month in hospital pissing his insides out. After his near-death experience he became interested in music. His favourite songs are "Why Write A Letter" by The Drones and the intro music to the Late Night Live ABC Radio National show. Foxy likes sticks. Tiger is nearly 12 years old and lives next door. He visits most days.”

Luke Rowell (Disasteradio) and Ralph (photo by Mikey Kampmann)

“Ralphie is a two-year-old Miniature Pinscher that me and my partner Chloe have had since 2014. There are a few demos I’m working on where the vocal tracks are full of him barking at me while I’m recording on headphones, which basically sums up our relationship. Not only do we love each other very much, we both get a kick out of trolling.”

Mark Roberts (We Are Temporary) and Ash

“I’m blessed to work from home, so Ash and I have been inseparable from the moment I brought him home at 10 weeks of age. He now rests his head on my feet when I work on music during the day, snuggles up to me like a little donut at night, and wakes me every morning by standing over me, bowing his chest, and licking my face and ears.”

We Are Temporary remixed Kesha’s “Die Young” and removed Dr. Luke’s production.

Jack Parsons (The Pretty Littles) with Margaret

“I love my dog because she’s smarter than me. It’s important to surround yourself with things that are smarter than you… like computers and cranes. That said, she doesn’t look too bright in this photo. She looks like she’s just wandered up Victoria Street and had a big hit of the good stuff. Her name is Margaret, after my sweet ol’ nanna, who would have loved this little thing, had they had the chance to meet.”
