Parquet Courts’ new video for “Dust” could be taken from a scene from Office Space.
The multilayered video, shot by Johann Rashid, features a ‘dust monster’ and an office drone wigging out at an old-school desk – one with no computer – and bring to mind Mike Judge’s 1991 black comedy set at soul-killing software company Initech.
Taken from the New York bands forthcoming album Human Performance, the jittery song, which the band have been playing live, features both Andrew Savage and Austin Brown on vocals.
Johann told us that the video was born from that staple office fuel – coffee:
“As usual before working on anything with Parquet Courts, Austin and I sit and drink coffee. I had just gotten back to NYC and almost forgot about the fast paced nature of creating projects with friends fuelled by many cups of drip. Austin talked me through his epic visions of strange characters held together through the brightness of clashing projections.” Out April 8 on Rough Trade, Human Performance is a follow up to 2014's Sunbathing Animal and last year's Monastic Living EP.
