The Ointment Get Fruity on the Video for ‘Same Shit Song’

The Portland synth punkers operate from the lower levels of the healthy food pyramid.

The Ointment are a high to medium-octane Portland synth punk band made up of members of Heart Attack Jizzers, Chemos and the excellent Spetsnaz.

After watching their new video “Same Shit Song”, you wouldn’t think there was a whole lot of organization behind the band but the four-piece were ‘organized’ by guitarist Peti Milkford and bass synth player Tyler Alexander at the end of 2014.

Since then they’ve recorded some burners using synth and digital effects in a satellite studio inside of Blackwater records and released a cassette on Babys World.

Word is that they are working on another recording session. In the meantime they’ve gifted us with this simple but excellent video.

We reached out the mysterious Danny Penticoat, who some believe to be an amalgam of some bands members while others think he could even be their manager.

Noisey: I like your eye for detail; fruit and broken Vespas.
Danny Penticoat: The Ointment as a whole unit sat in vegetal co-thought to render the detail on the principle that all food is soap. Thus all fruits are available for styling of hair or other platforms. The Vespa DOES function.

Was there much direction with the video?
As is the case of the styling, direction arose through a vegetal process, unimpeded by our efforts. This was our first time playing in the light so we fell well in line with the sun with no direction.

How is the band’s reputation in Portland?
People seem to think we're strange but we thought what we are doing is very understandable. We have played out at the vegan club and love our time there but couldn't speak of our reputation.
