Primavera Day Two - Crying At Blur Live

And crotch thrusting to Solange.

DAY TWO AT PRIMAVERA: If it was an episode of Friends it'd be called "The One Where We Had A Moment During Blur But Will NEVER Speak Of It Again".

22:00 - Solange saunters onto stage, flanked by a painfully well dressed Dev Hynes, cos that is what he does now…looks incredible, hangs out with the Knowles family and makes a few hits here and there. What a massive bastard. Anyway, where Solange suffers from, y'know, not being her sister, she makes up for it in having an eclectic as shit live show. There's tons of sass and crotch thrusting, flawless backing singers and lots of vocal acrobatics (am I the only one that didn't realise bitch has serious lungs?) Obvs, everyone went cray cray when "Losing You" kicked in, I didn't get any Vines though cos she was all like "put down your cameras and just live in the motherfucking moment y'all."

00:00 - We get really bummed out to James Blake. For some reason, the combination of "Limit To Your Love", being bathed in mood lighting and surrounded by couples stand-up spooning really gets you thinking about dying alone with only a tabby cat for company, that's only sticking around till it can dine on your fresh corpse anyway. Whutevs…Blur next!

[Interlude in which I have my faith in humanity restored after having the wallet I lost during Death Grips is returned and the guy doesn't even want my blood as a finding fee.]

01:00 - Blur. Everything is forgiven; Alex only talking about breast milk cheese, Dave going into politics, Graham writing "I Wish", Damon getting that restraining order on me…it's all forgotten. "Girls and Boys" starts proceedings and #TeamNoisey immediately lose their shit; Elektra is already screaming "I NEVER WANT THIS TO END" and Iain's voice is starting to sound bloody from shout-singing. Should probably not state the obvious and say "Wow, I totally forgot how many ABSOLUTE SMASH FUCKING HITS they've got in their back catalogue", but WTF. I mean, I thought I was going to full on cry to "Coffee and TV" and I'm not even sure that's my favourite song.

There's a moment when we're all singing and hugging it out to "Tender" and I feel like I could've started weeping Forever Friends teddy bears. Like, if it were a buddy movie it'd be the super emosh flashback montage bit at the end. Noisey's resident indie demi-gods surreptitiously start to lead backing vocals just so they could scream the "HEAL ME" bit, y'know, the bit the real fans know the exact timing of, yeah? A stranger then comes over to us, all watery-eyed as they bow off stage, to tell us that "We were beautiful", which usually would've been greeted with "Fuck off m8 or I'll pepper spray you", but I think it was at that point I tweeted:

SHUT UP. I HAD LOTS OF FEELINGS, OKAY?

03: 00 - Everyone feels totally fucked after Blur, but we're all in knackered agreement that we should check out how psychotic The Knife is making everyone feel. Case in point:

05: 00 - Disclosure take to the Pitchfork stage in the teensy hours looking as fresh as daisies. Meanwhile I have lager in my hair and an unexplainable shooting pain in my left eye socket. Though I love the boys' music I was kinda non-plussed at the thought of them just jammin' on stage fondling their laptops for an hour, so I was pleasantly surprised that they busted out drums, did some bass plucking and even a few of their own UK garage-y vocals. I know right? In fact, they were so good that I didn't even attempt to body slam the girl windmill dancing in front of me.

06:00 - As if there hadn't been enough fighting back tears of joy, not only did I find two working lighters on the floor and a euro in my bra, but Daphni played out some serious disco vibez to a crowd still going strong at 6AM, as the sun came up over Barcelona. Moments like that you've just got to stop and soak it all up (and take a Vine.)

So, last night = group hugs. Tonight = punching each other out to My Bloody Valentine and Wu Tang. Come back tomorrow to see which of us ended up in A&E.
