J£zus Million and Sasha Go Hard: "Bottles"

Our ride-or-die bitch from Chicago, Sasha Go Hard has teamed up with the 19-year-old Boston beatmaker.

Sasha Go Hard is our ride-our-die bitch from Chicago, the only rapper whose videos make us squeal with glee every time they drop. She's just partnered up with prodigious 19-year-old Boston beatmaker J£ZUS MILLION on his new mixtape Cold Shoulder. The mixtape is a collection of five original tracks that go some way to encapsulate the broad spectrum of Zucco’s many and varied influences, from Philip Glass to Gucci Mane via Bjork and Brian Eno.

The Sasha Go Hard track, "Bottles", begins as sparse electronica before a simple click builds to goose step of beats and Sasha's lewd flows. Listen below, exclusively on You Need To Hear This.

We caught up with J£ZUS MILLION to ask him a few questions about the track and the forthcoming mixtape.

Hi! This mixtape is great! When did you start working on it? How did it come together?
Thank you. It initially was going to be my debut EP for Double Denim but I wasn't happy with how it was coming together. It was comprised of old tracks I made last summer. When I scrapped it I decided to do a mixtape instead. I started working on it when I left school in December 2012 and I finished it in it March or April I think.

How did you and Sasha Go Hard hook up? What was she like to work with?
We linked up through our managers. I didn't get the chance to get into a studio with her so she just sent over the acapellas and I worked them in my mix. I've really wanted to get my foot in the door in the Chicago rap scene, and I fuck with Sasha's music so when she said she was down to work on some of my stuff I was stoked.

What do we need to know about J£zus Million? Are there other producers you take inspiration from?
I look up to guys like HudMo or Thom Yorke. Lately I've been drawing inspiration from some Fela Kuti records and highlife. I've also just started listening to Arca, he makes some crazy shit. Holden, Boards of Canada, Philip Glass, etc. Producers I've been inspired by lately would have to be Young Chop, Paris Bueller or DJ Rashad.

You're only 19. How did you get so good at production so quickly?
I don't know. I make music everyday, all the time. That could be why.

What's the background on your phone?
Some old press shot of Marlon Brando as Colonel Kurtz.

What meal are you really good at cooking?
Rice & beans with guacamole.

J£zus Million's mixtape Cold Shoulder will be released as a free download from Monday September 2nd. In the meantime, check him out on Soundcloud.
