Frank Ocean - "Blue Whale"

Frank showcases his lyrical dexterity in this new cut.

Frankie Ocean has been cementing his place on the musical roster this year with his gorgeous falsetto-infused sex jams that sound like luxury and lust in MP3 form.

His debut record, Channel Orange, propelled the OFWGKTA cohort into the R&B stratosphere with the delicate "Thinking About You" being a strong contender for tear-jerker of the year.

Mr. Ocean dropped "Blue Whale"—unannounced and with no description—on his Tumblr last night.

"Blue Whale" showcases Mr. Ocean's "backpack rap" skills with a Mos Def-esque flow skipping over the track, while the same dark images that frequented Channel Orange are painted into the background. Frank Ocean is REAL as fuck. Acting as the #antiYOLO, Frank talks about hypothetical life mistakes—“If I ever have a daughter, I wonder what I could call her / Nine months after I fuck on the beach, I guess I call her Karma”—and realizes that, yeah, #YOLO, but you gotta live through darkness, with an ad-libbed refrain of “Life goes on” closing the track.
