Darlings Have a Message in the Form of a Song: "I Love You Too"

"It's one thing to love and another thing to love in tandem…" BK's garage-poppers return.

Of course you'd probably prefer it if you were the one saying "I love you too" because frankly no one wants to be the one who says I love you first. Isn't it always a stand off, a staring competition of the heart? And the one who buckles and confesses vulnerability is the losing party? No? That's not how love works? It's not a game in which we're all losers?

Well anyway, Brooklyn band Darlings (who we've loved for a long time) are premiering new tune, "I Love You Too," lifted from their forthcoming LP, Feel Better. Let's hope the album does what it says on the tin, or if not, does anyone have a pill that'll help? (Woah the Monday bleakness is coming off me in waves of sad today.)

Thankfully this song is a perky cut of 90s-leaning garage-pop. With it's descending guitar and synth line and a vocal melody which stalks said guitar line like an obsessive lover, "I Love You Too" will pep you up faster than a caboodle of kittens.

According to Darlings dude Peter, the song was written while the 2012 Republican National Convention was on in the background. Well that doesn't sound like a very romantical backdrop.

But then Andrew had this to say: "It's one thing to love and another thing to love in tandem. Take the lightning from between the two poles and put it in a jar and that's why this song is so much fun. Bill Nye's favorite Darlings song."

Science: so much more reliable that the human heart.
