Fuck The Internet, #CutForBieber Is Horrible

Bieber is having a PR nightmare this week.

Yesterday, when we wrote about Bieber huffing a joint, the last thing we expected to see were pictures of girls cutting their wrists. But, thanks to 4Chan’s “/b” board, we did. The thread has since been deleted off the site, but here’s a screen grab in which the mischievous board announces their plans to “get some little girls to cut themselves”.

Man, I’ve used /b a bunch of times. Sometimes it can be pretty cool and provides a whole wealth of information that fills my fucked up info daily quota. But for this, you’ve really gotta hang your heads in shame, guys.

Last year, the message board launched an elaborate prank in which they convinced fans to go #BaldForBieber. It was kinda funny, because it played upon the obsessive nature of pre-teen fandom. I’m in complete agreement with everyone and everything that the Beliebers/ 1Directioners / dick-riders of the modern age are borderline insane.

However, trying to get girls to cut themselves is pretty fucking dark.

These pictures may be complete trolls or they may be real. Whatever. I was in two minds whether or not to post them and pass them on. But, I figured Noisey readers are pretty clued up on REAL LIFE. You guys know how to use the internet and realise that this is all one big lie and you’re not going to go and cut yourself just cos you’ve seen a Twitter trend, right?

The problem is though, as #BaldForBieber proved, teenage girls don’t know how to use the Internet. This is like a chain letter on steroids. I'm all for trolling but anyone who uses self harm as the butt of a joke is a dickhead. Isn't this kind of what 4Chan wanted, though?

On the one hand, this is a massive fail for the casual users of the site. They've got a butt-load of negative press. But on the other hand, isn't the whole point of /b to be controversial as fuck and piss everyone off? I'm feeling kind of stuck in a Catch 22 scenario here in that, trying to castrate /b for being /b is only going to give them a massive hard-on to keep doing what they're doing - which, I'm all for them doing when it involves harmless fun - but, hey, 4chan, can we tone it down on the RL self harm stakes, please? Someone's gonna get hurt soon and we're all going to be pretty sad.
