Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber squared off in what was at times a nail-biting match for the Wimbledon women’s singles finals. Hoping to avenge for her stunning loss to the German in January’s Australian Open, Serena also had another goal in mind: tying Steffi Graf’s modern-era record of 22 Grand Slams. While the first set saw Williams squeak out at 7-5, she claimed their best of three with a 6-3 win. After a year-long drought of Grand Slams, it took a return to Wimbledon for Serena to secure it.
