Today, the world governing body of international swimming, FINA, ruled that seven Russian swimmers were ineligible for competition at the 2016 Rio Olympics, according to Reuters.
The news comes on the heels of yesterday’s IOC’s ruling that there would be no blanket ban on Russian athletes for the Rio 2016 Olympics, instead putting that determination on the shoulders of the international federations that govern each sport.

“FINA acknowledges and supports the IOC’s position in respect of the participation of clean Russian athletes to the Olympic Games in Rio,” the organization said in a statement announcing the athletes’ ban.
The swimmers include Nikita Lobintsev, Vladimir Morozov, and Daria Ustinova—each identified by WADA in a doping report—along with Mikhail Dovgalyuk, Natalia Lovtcova, Anastasia Krapivina, and breast stroke medal hopeful Yulia Ekimova.
