“That G Word” by Syzzors is an ethereal piece of dream pop brilliance. The track is brought down to earth by skillfully layered vocals that weave themselves in and around big synths and tight drum lines. The Montreal based trio chose the tiny village of Petit-Saguenay in Quebec as the setting for their chilling and eerie (but phenomenally shot) music video. There are unmistakably Canadian scenes of misty forests and mountains that sit above dark lakes. These pictures are a stimulating contrast to the pop element of the music, which gives the track and video a great synergy that only emphasizes Syzzors’ talent.
“That G Word” is the first track off their EP Collage, which dropped on May 2. The group has been gaining some serious support since their inception in July of last year. Most recently, they’ve played M Pour Montreal alongside Choses Sauvages at Divan Orange.
