After sending flower arrangements to the edges of space, artist Azuma Makoto anchors his works in giant blocks of ice titled, Iced Flowers. The series, describes Makoto on his website, “observes the changing life of flowers that are locked in ice.” He continues to investigate the expression of flowers in different environments. Makoto invites his viewers to “Enjoy how flowers and ice change themselves over time in the ruins far from human’s existence—it is an inorganic space that makes a vivid contrast with flowers.”
