Artist Mickalene Thomas is known for her powerful portraits of Black women including Solange and Michelle Obama. Her first Canadian solo exhibition, Femmes Noires, is on display at the Art Gallery of Ontario. We talked to her about how the women in her work use their platforms to influence others.
