The Creators Project visits with the Harlem-based drag performer and comedienne Miz Cracker, who makes the subversion of gender and sexuality a truly entertaining and engaging endeavor through well-developed personas and an audacious stage presence. She lets us in on how the development of character, through the transformative power of makeup and costume, she achieves a level of confidence in her comedic performance that allows for a genuine yet transcendent experience — which is why drag, above all else, has to be real. She tells us, “The transformation is what gives me the confidence to do these things.”
