Anyway, above is the premiere for “Sunday’s Cool,” which is a slip of a song, a lolloping lo-fi racket which is about “not wanting to wait till Sunday to hang out with a girl and not caring about her past lovers, what she had/did before. Just anxious to get in with her.” Ha. I can related.

Shot in Derek’s living him room and on his block the vibe is very public access TV, the antithesis of the super-pro gloss of many music videos today.
Derek had this to say: “It’s old school kind of budget looking video feedback mixed with bad shots of my girlfriend putting on make up. It’s goofy and unflattering on purpose. We look awkward at the beginning and end just waiting for the song to start and finish.”
On a sidenote, Derek also makes music under the guise of LQQK who I actually dig more than Turn to Crime. He’s got a quavery Bowie thing going on. Derek explains the project as “Turn To Crime but with a different name, an alter ego. Kind of like Parliament/Funkadelic having the same band, but with two different names.” Tight. Thanks Derek.
