I’m not gonna mansplain the uncanny valley to you. Ok, fine. I am. It’s the concept that robots or artificial representations of humans look hella spooky, based on the fact that they’re so close to the real thing, but something’s just… off. Well, this Zlatan lookalike isn’t quite a robot, but his so-close-but-not-quite-there similarities to “The Zlatan One” made for a pretty eerie encounter during a pitch invasion today.
Zlatan didn’t have a particularly good game, as he missed a couple of opportunities to end up on the scoresheet of Man U’s 4-1 rout of Leicester. But maybe Replicant A made him feel a bit better on the day. There are a couple of pictures from today’s pitch invasion out there of Zlatan rejecting Fake Zlatan outright—by staving him off with a palm to his head—but you can also see the Swedish Taekwondo master cracking a smile.

Zlatan is usually pretty emphatic that there is only one Zlatan. But maybe there’s room for another? Let’s see if Zlatan B can slap a ball out of the air just four minutes into his Manchester United debut. Now that‘d be one hell of a robot.
