Former MLB pitcher Chris Leroux is taking his game from the diamond to primetime TV in search of love, or something like that. The 33-year-old was announced Thursday as the next star of the dating reality show The Bachelor Canada, and will be the subject of the third season of the program which is set to air sometime in the fall of 2017.

Leroux told ET Canada that he's never really had an issue talking to or meeting women (shocker), but that he's ready to find someone who "likes me for me."

"I want to meet the right woman," said Leroux. "I'm 33 years old now, I'm not getting any younger. So there's no time like the present."

The Montreal native suited up for the Marlins, Pirates, and Yankees over parts of six years in the majors, posting a 1-3 record with a 6.03 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 71.2 innings pitched. Leroux also spent time with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows in Japan and played in the minor league systems of the Brewers, Phillies, and Blue Jays.

He appeared in 26 games with the Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate Buffalo Bisons last year, posting a 4.87 ERA over 140.1 innings. Leroux has also competed for Canada internationally as well, winning gold at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto.

Current analyst and former NFL quarterback Jesse Palmer is among the notable athletes who have filled the role of The Bachelor, while Jordan Rogers, the brother of Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron, was a contestant on (and won) The Bachelorette in 2016.
