'The Bad Batch' Has Won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival

VICE is proud to announce that The Bad Batch, director Ana Lily Amirpour's second full-length feature, was honored Saturday with the Special Jury Prize award at the 73rd annual Venice Film Festival.

The film, produced by Annapurna Pictures and VICE, is Amirpour's second directorial effort after 2014's critically acclaimed Iranian vampire Western A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.

The Bad Batch is a neo-dystopian picaresque set in a wasteland outside Texas that the US has officially disavowed. Immigrants, drug dealers, and other criminals have been excommunicated to the lawless zone, including Arlen (played by Suki Waterhouse) and a swath of depraved cannibals. After a chance encounter with fellow-pariah Miami Man (Game of Thrones's Jason Momoa), the societal rejects' fates intertwine in unexpected ways.
