LONDON - PART OF THE WEEKEND NEVER DIES

A wise man once said, "I hate rave culture. As soon as I hear anything like that kind of music I want to smash whatever device is playing it to a gazillion pieces with Judge Jules's severed head." This quote pretty much encapsulates how I feel about that scene too. But a new documentary about Soulwax, made by our favourite director Saam Farahmand, might just change that…

Part of the Weekend Never Dies pieces together footage taken over 120 shows in Europe, Japan, US, Latin America and Australia. It includes interviews with James Murphy, Nancy Whang, Erol Alkan, Tiga, Justice and Klaxons, as well as lots of glitchy dance music.

We asked Saam what he makes of it and he said: "In 20 years time, when our children and their friends get back from clubbing, wearing their vintage SebastiAn T-shirts that cost them £800, this is one of the vids they'll put on to get stoned to and feel all 2000sy."
