LONDON – ALL THAT GLITTERS

We know there's not exactly a shortage of one-day festivals taking place in Shoreditch at the moment but that hasn't stopped us from getting pretty excited about the inaugural Gold festival. This boutique arts and music event happens tomorrow – i.e., Saturday, September 27 – inside Shoreditch Town Hall in the heart of east London. The event, organised by the people behind Cornwall's Port Eliot Literary Festival, runs from lunchtime to 2AM and ought to appeal to anyone who's ever read a book or played a record. Among a stack of authors, comedians, poets, bands, DJs and bingo hosts, highlights include appearances by Vice favourite Tibor Fischer, who'll be reading from his latest novel, Turner Prize winner Martin Creed's band, artist Gavin Turk, Danish avant-gardist Goodiepal, songstress Mara Carlyle, synth-pop heroes Heartbreak and a late-night set by Cocadisco DJs.
