LONDON - A RANT ABOUT YOUTUBE

YouTube is becoming fucking annoying. Firstly, the "This video is not available in your country" idiocy. Sorry? What? Not available of the WORLD WIDE WEB you chumpnuts? Secondly, like a troupe of performing dogs, they rolled over and allowed Warner Music to take down every video of its performers and songwriters. Three cheers for internet independence. And now they have now taken away the literal videos of Dustin McLean.

McLean is the guy who changed the lyrics to songs by A Ha and The Fucking Chili Peppers to make them match the videos. It was a big internet thing (you know, funny for five minutes). According to YouTube though, these "Are no longer available due to a copyright claim by a third party". What can that actually mean? Well, perhaps Anthony Kiedis has actually choked so badly on his my-little-stoner locks that he's finally started to communicate solely through lawyers and his own anus and demanded the video of 'Under the Bridge' be taken down because it makes him appear ridiculous. Ahem, Kiedis? You shared hookers with your dad and jog at the camera in slow motion with a mushroom cloud exploding out of your arse. I think you pretty much won the ridiculous vote way before Dustfilms got hold of 'Under the Bridge'.

Secondly, there is the possibility that A Ha took so strongly against the comparative success of the "Pipe Wrench Fight" piss-take of 'Take On Me' (you can buy Pipe Wrench Fight mugs you know) that they demanded YouTube took down McClean's catalogue of literal videos.

You can still get hold of the videos here but that's not the point. What the hell are they doing to YouTube? It's the most useless re-brand since The Cold War became known as 'The War on Terror'. Sure, you can still watch 1,620 videos of fat kids crying, but what's the point when they are interrupted by useless "Playlist results" halfway through, the content is dictated by record companies and half the videos are no longer available in this sodding country?
