Last week, Jack Johnstone, the guy who came up with the crazy idea that is the triathlon, died. He was 80. NPR had a nice remembrance of his life and the early triathlons.

Last night, Leicester City handed Liverpool a serious whooping in the Premier League, winning 2-0 thanks to a couple very nice Jamie Vardy goals. One was a goal-of-the-season candidate. Vardy is also set to sign a new contract with the club.

In other news, Manchester United beat Stoke 3-0, and Manchester City beat Sunderland 1-0, while Arsenal could only manage a goalless tie versus Southampton

The mosquito-borne Zika virus outbreak sweeping Brazil might have serious consequences for the Olympics this summer. Will fans travel to the games? What should athletes do? Olympic organizers have a solution: insect repellent.

Chinese club Gouangzhou signed Jackson Martinez from Atletico Madrid for a whopping €42 million. Teams in China have now spent more than €100 million on big-name players this transfer season. Crazy.
