The U.S. men’s national team program is back to business as usual this morning, after the senior team’s 4-0 win over Guatemala and a U23 team’s 1-2 loss to Colombia. The senior team is back into the qualification picture for the next World Cup, while the U23s won’t be at the Olympics, just like they weren’t last time.

CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying was also underway yesterday. Colombia beat Ecuador 3-1, knocking the Ecuadorians out of first place, while Brazil could only manage a 2-2 draw against Paraguay. You can find the rest of the results here.

The goal of the day no doubt went to France’s Dimitri Payet, who tucked this free kick into the top corner from an outrageous distance against Russia.

The FA has charged Manchester City’s Martin Demichelis with “misconduct in relation to betting.” He was likely either betting on soccer or giving insider info to gamblers.

Pele is suing Samsung after the company apparently used a guy who wasn’t Pele but looked like him in an ad in the New York Times.
