So, that’s it–after eight days of mad snowstorms, reppin’ threads, and Mary J. Blige channeling Cruella on us, New York Fashion Week is officially over for another season. We’re shaking up this week’s Viral Style column to bring you the highlights from all the Autumn/Winter 2014-15 shows at #NYFW.
threeASFOUR
One of the best conceptual collections to hit the runway this week, threeASFOUR presented the FROW with an array of visual interpretations of nature, interpreting its earthy geometries through the label’s signature topographic aesthetic. Each piece looks pristine in a shade of the purest white, manipulated with 3D shapes and layering in fabrics like waxed cotton or sheers.
CHROMAT
If you’re not familiar with the work of Becca McCharen’s label Chromat, A/W14’s the time to get acquainted. Running with their ongoing theme of structural experiments for the body, we saw a slew of engineered lingerie and undergarments that form a protective armor with metal plates, wire sculptured, and even LED decorative trim.
VFILES
VFiles staged their second ever showcase for NYFW with styles by three exciting new labels. Paris-based duo ASSK refined outdoorsy designs with a fresh sportswear twist, while Melitta Baumeister stripped everything back to monochrome basics, and Hyein Seo fused horror punk elements with lux textures like fur and vinyl.

The biggest label on the list, the new range from Marc Jacobs’ younger diffusion line marked the first design collab between Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier–and man, did they ramp up the estrogen edge in this collection, what with the deluge of sports separates, punk plaids, and future foil metallics on show. Who runs the world? MBMJ’s girls, duh.
HOOD BY AIR
Putting their unique futuristic spin on sportswear staples, Hood By Air got Twitter talking with an army of models who looked like women dressed as guys (complete with painted nails, bare legs in fishnets, and uber-long clip-on locks). We especially liked the customizable feel of the clothes, allowing the wearer to experiment with silhouette or change the garment style altogether with fastenings like zips or Velcro.

Big love to our fave Spanish label MKF (who we’ve raved about before); we’re all over this new collection. Showing as part of the MADE Fashion Week presentations, apres-ski style went sexy with cropped furry jackets, mesh mini skirts, stacked vinyl platforms and all-white everything.
