"You f**king cheat:" Socceroos Coach Ange Postecoglou Loses It At His Saudi Arabian Counterpart

Australian Coach Ange Postecoglou blasts Saudi Arabia over stalling tactics during the Socceroos controversial 2-2 draw in Jeddah (plus a bonus preview of their qualifier against Japan in Melbourne on Tuesday).

Broadcasting microphones recorded Australian Socceroos coach, Ange Postecoglou screaming "you fucking cheat" at his Saudi Arabian counterpart in response to stalling tactics used during the weekend's controversial 2-2 draw between the sides in their world cup qualifier in Jeddah.

After going up 1-nil in the first five minutes the Saudis immediately resorted to slowing the game down in a desperate attempt to steal an upset win over the Socceroos. The cynical ploy prompted a furious response from several Australian players and coaching staff.

"Even after they scored in the first five minutes you've got people telling them to stay in the corner and try and soak up minutes. It's ridiculous," said defender Trent Sainsbury, who headed Australia's first goal just before halftime to draw the game level.

"Then they're going down with cramp when they're leading one-nil," he said.

With nighttime temperatures reaching 30 degrees celsius the Saudis continued their time-wasting tactics throughout the match leading to a dramatic pitch side confrontation between Australian coach Ange Postecoglou and Saudi assistant Mark Van Bommel.

Van Bommel rushed the Australian bench after Socceroos captain, Mile Jedinak was slow to kick the ball into touch so an "injured" Saudi player could receive treatment. Socceroos coach, Ange Postecoglou wasn't having it and stepped to his Saudi counterpart requiring the fourth match official to get between them.

"I didn't think we needed to kick it out because they had an opportunity to kick it out and decided to attack. We did the fair play thing," said Postecoglou, adding that the confrontation was "nothing important."

The Socceroos claim the Saudi defender, Omar Athman was only suffering cramp. He was also 50 meters off the ball.

The Socceroos went up 2-1 after halftime through Tomi Juric before controversial Saudi striker Nasser Al Shamrani, who was suspended for eight games for spitting at Western Sydney's Matt Spiranovic in the 2014 AFC Champions League final, equalled the scores at the 80th minute mark.

That's where it stayed, with the draw allowing the Socceroos to keep their place at the top of Group B. They take on Japan at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne on Tuesday night.

Coach Postecoglou has hinted at making changes to the starting XI for the clash, with the possible addition of Queens Park Ranger, Massimo Luongo to Australia's already talent packed midfield.

"He's flying, I've watched QPR the last couple of weeks and he's really going well and he's another that can score. He scored against Iraq, from midfield areas he gets into good positions," Postecoglou said.

Japan comes into the match off the back of a dramatic and desperately needed stoppage-time victory over Iraq at home. They are currently fourth in the group behind Australia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

"There won't be a lot of changes but we'll make at least a couple because we've got an opportunity to do that because we've got some players in the squad who didn't play in the first game and have got a bit of energy about them,'' said Postecoglou.

"It's going to take another big effort on Tuesday so we'll make sure we put the strongest team out there we think will get the job done.
