David Warner Is The Best ODI Batsmen In The World Right Now

His latest blistering tonne coming just ahead of the naming of the prestigious Allan Border Medal award later this evening.

Australian opener, David Warner's form in the One Day International arena has been something to marvel at these past 12 months. Prior to yesterday's scintillating 130 runs off 119 balls at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the Matraville Mauler was already averaging 63.09 runs per innings with an incredible five ODI centuries this summer (and seven centuries in the last 12 months).

The devastating innings also propelled Australia to a series win over Pakistan (with one match yet to be played). Warner's scintillating summer and blistering past 12 months has him well on track to claim the ODI Player of the Year Award, barring something special from South African A.B De Villiers or Indian superstar Virat Kohli.

Later tonight he will also vie with Australian captain Steve Smith and fast bowler Mitchell Starc for the prestigious Allan Border Medal. Smith had a stellar summer in the Test cricket arena, racking up 1162 runs with an average of 68.35. Starc, meanwhile, was Australia's best bowler in their disastrous tour of Sri Lanka to kick off the summer, taking 24 wickets at an average of 15.16 runs per wicket. In the further six home tests played this summer he took 28 wickets giving him a total of 52 wickets at 24.29 during the voting period.

The Allan Border Medal to be held later tonight will decide Australia's best cricketer of the past 12 months (judged between January 8th last year and January 7th this year). It will also play a part in figuring who will be Australia's number one ranked player when Cricket Australia sits down to do their next round of contracts, with the first placed player set to reap the financial rewards.
