Breakout Summer for Andy Ares

An anticipated debut at Digital Dreams is just the tip of the iceberg for Toronto's in-demand trance champ.

We're only halfway through 2014 and it's already been a banner year for Toronto's Andy Ares.

A slammed up debut at Miami's Winter Music Conference? Check. Acclaimed appearances at Waterloo's trendy Beta Nightclub? Check. Buzzed about opening slots before Jerome Isma-Ae, Simon Patterson and Dash Berlin? Check. One of the standout sets at the recent Electric Elements Festival on Wasaga Beach? Check.

The list goes on. And as the dog days of the summer roll in, the sought-after trance hotshot shows no signs of slowing down.

But the gig that stands above them all is an exciting upcoming booking at Digital Dreams, where he will be sharing the main stage with such headlining international acts as Justice, Paul Oakenfold, Eric Prydz and Tiësto amongst others.

It's been a quite a journey for the T.O. staple. I can testify to that. No kidding, I was there when Andy played his very first gig in 2006 at a house party with no more than 80 people. Now as he gears up to make a statement to over 80,000 people, I can only sit back and admire the ride.

He's worked hard for it. The résumé speaks for itself. So consider this exclusive Northmix for THUMP just a prelude of all the bigger things to come.
