Muti Randolph's Stunning Wave Of LEDs Adorns A Store Window In Rio De Janeiro

It’s no longer speculation: LEDs are taking over the world. These little light emitters have become the central component of some really unconventional clothes, have mimicked fireflies on a Tokyo river, and been part of countless other creative works that incorporate them. Creator Muti Randolph is a frequent contributor to the mounting evidence of LEDs’ popularity.

For Deep Screen, he built a cube using over 6,000 luminous spheres. He also made a Tube using LEDs that gave the feeling of being inside a wave. For his newest project, the surfer/multimedia artist/architect/scenographer took inspiration from the sea. He created this gorgeous LED infused installation for the window of La Lampe, a store in his native Rio specializing in LED lighting.

"Light is a wave. I ride waves on the sea surface, so it's a constant source of inspiration," says Randolph about the work displayed in La Lampe's facade. "I only work with public and lively spaces, such as events, stores, restaurants, nightclubs, parties, shows, and festivals. I believe that art should be part of people's routines and everyday lives, and not be just confined to museums and galleries," he says.
