How come science class never looked this good? Maybe we would’ve spent more time paying attention and less time spitting spitballs in the general direction of our arch nemesis. But anyway, back to the topic at hand: Biodiversity. In the age of the infographic, this short animated film on biodiversity beautifully illustrates the mind-boggling variety of lifeforms inhabiting the Earth’s many ecosystems at a glance. And, perhaps more importantly, it underscores the immense amount of trouble we’re all about to be in if we continue destroying said biodiversity at the present rate. Now, before the science nerds among you get your panties in a bunch over the accuracy of this film’s explanation, nobody is contending that this is an exhaustive exploration of the topic, but it does get the message across in succinct technicolor-tinged style. After all, who has more than 3 minutes to devote to anything these days?Hats off to the fine students at the Vancouver Film School who produced this film. We’re sure it’ll help you all get jobs once you graduate.
