The Beastie Boys have always had their tongues wedged firmly in their cheeks, ever since their bratty party anthem album Licensed to Ill gave everyone license to be unwell back in 1986. Since that debut their career’s been full of larger than life songs and the videos to match—from Spike Jonze’s 70s cop show pastiche for single “Sabotage” to daikaijū-inspired “Intergalactic”. Fun is always high on the agenda and they pretty much set the tone of their career with the raucous good time feel that kicked down the door of everyone’s family home upon the release of beer-spilling single “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)”.They’re set to document the video that accompanied that song with the release of a short film titled Fight For Your Right – Revisited, due for release later this year, which itself will accompany a song of the same name from the eighth album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. No doubt it’ll see The Beastie Boys growing old in a disgraceful manner, proving they’re no different now than they were 25 years ago, except of course for all their new celebrity friends. And every one of them seems to be starring in the trailer above, with the film featuring an insane cast of Hollywood actors—Seth Rogen, Jack Black, Ted Danson, Will Ferrell, Steve Buscemi, Kirsten Dunst, Chloë Sevigny, Susan Sarandon, Elijah Wood and so many more they must be attempting to break some kind of cameo world record—some of them imitating Ad-Rock, MCA, and Mike-D. You can judge the accuracy of their performances by comparing their impressions to the original Beasties below.
