A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is a spooky Iranian vampire flick – yep, that’s a thing now – that takes all familiar the hallmarks of the Western and gives them a sexy new makeover. The film tells the story of a 187-year-old girl who haunts the streets of ghost-town Bad City and assaults men at night dressed up in a black chador. That is, until she finds one she actually likes. Not many films can pull off black-and-white these days, but writer-director Ana Lily Amirpour keeps you hooked from the get go.
We liked A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night so much when we saw it at Sundance last year that we decided to release it on VICE Films alongside Studio Canal. Turns out it’s not only us that loves it, though: the film had pretty awesome reviews from the Guardian and Financial Times.
