Sometimes, when the world feels grey and gloomy, you just want to feast your eyes on some exquisitely-shot rainbow movie magic. And the latest supercut by YouTuber and cinephile The Solomon Society certainly delivers in that department. The Most Beautiful Multicolor Shots in Movie History is a four minute homage to the most gorgeous technicolor moments captured on film.
Color was first introduced to motion pictures in the early 20th century, and it arguably changed the game for cinematographers and filmmakers, opening up a full spectrum of visual possibilities. In the same way a great score can manipulate viewers’ emotions, heightening drama and adding gravitas to a storyline, moviegoers subconsciously associate color with feeling, from the passion and strength associated with crimson hues to the serenity connoted by deep blues and greens.
