Heads up, visual effects fans: Vimeo channel Burger Fiction has put together a supercut of all the Oscar winners for Best Visual Effects from 1927 to the present, just in time for the 88th Academy Awards next Sunday.

The first winner, Wings, was a silent World War I film starring film legends Clara Bow and Gary Cooper, which used visual effects to simulate the flight of warplanes. The list continues chronologically to include classics like War of the Worlds (1953), Ben-Hur (1959), King Kong (1976), and of course Star Wars: A New Hope (1977). You’ll also find more modern favorites like Aliens, The Matrix, Terminator 2, and Jurassic Park.

The supercut includes a clip showcasing how visual effects were used in each Oscar winner, and it’s a fun way to see how visual effects has evolved over the course of a near-century. Unsurprisingly, a lot of the winning movies are sci-fi films, or take place in space—the last two winners being Gravity and Interstellar. And with the exception of The Revenant, all this year’s nominees are sci-fi or dystopian films like Ex Machina, The Force Awakens, and The Martian.

If you have a spare 9 minutes, take some time to appreciate how far visual effects have come, and speculate on where they might be another hundred years from now.
