Past and present X-Files fans got a delightful surprise last night when Fox aired a ten second teaser for the series’ upcoming six-episode revival. The trailer itself doesn’t give much away, but fans can stop pinching themselves: it’s really happening.
Coming out in January 2016, the new episodes feature David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in their familiar roles as Mulder and Scully, and will also bring back all the other key players. Like the X-Files of yesteryear, this mini-season will have both “mythology” and “monster–of–the–week” episodes, as opposed to having one focused storyline. It’s already been revealed that at least one episode was written by Darin Morgan, who was responsible for the series’ best standalone episodes.
