Wayne Gretzky isn’t used to getting denied in a hockey arena. He pretty much got whatever he wanted whenever he wanted it (except that ring with the Kings back in the 1993 Cup final). There’s a reason he’s called The Great One and the holder of the NHL’s most sacred records. But things are apparently different in his post-playing days.

Gretzky, a four-time Stanley Cup winner and the NHL’s all-time leading point scorer, was in attendance for Game 4 of the Flyers and Capitals, so cameras naturally turned to the Oilers legend. Gretzky—the owner of 894 career goals—was looking to score, leaning over to wife Janet for a kiss but she was having none of it. Unfazed, Gretzky tried to follow up but was denied a second time for maybe the first time in his life. If only goalies were so lucky.

Turns out Gretzky’s human after all.
