The AP reported yesterday that a man wearing a "fairly realistic" bear costume approached a mother bear and her two cubs as they tried to fish in the Chilkoot River in Haines, Alaska on Monday.

According to Alaska Fish and Game Assistant Area Management Biologist Mark Sogge, the man ran to the low dam where the animals were feeding and began fucking with them, hopping up and down and walking to within ten feet of the beasts. It's not clear if he made growling noises as he approached.

The AP story notes that an Alaska Fish and Game technician named Lou Cenicola shooed the mother bear away "for the man's safety" and then attempted to talk to the guy. After he refused to reveal his identity, the man said, "You have the license plate number. You figure it out." He drove away without ever removing the costume.

While this situation is pretty similar to a stunt once pulled by Steve-O on MTV's Wild Boyz, the reality TV star probably isn't responsible, as he was arrested earlier this week for climbing up a crane in LA with an inflatable Shamu doll.
