Are you the Argentinean skate baby?

The job applications we get here are depressingly predictable.

The job applications we get here are depressingly predictable. They usually start with things like: “FUCK YOU, CUNT… But now that I’ve got your attention" etc etc etc. They normally include some crap about how “the Nazis always had the best style”, or come with an attempt at a "DON'T" about a disabled guy. So, amongst all this crap, when you find an application in an envelope packed with photos of Argentinean skate dudes from the Eighties and a letter about it, it’s sort of like summer time in Pan’s Labyrinth.

The beautifully handwritten letter was from a young South American lady, who is now living in London. Over four sides of A4 graph paper, she explained her life story. Her dad was a punk in Buenos Aires, and had started up a skate shop/company called Trash. Basically, her dad was Argentina’s answer to Dogtown, which makes her the Argentinean answer to my wet dreams. Eventually, the company collapsed and the family relocated to Spain in the Nineties. The two sets of photographs included in this package of sunshine, labelled “80's Argentina” and “90's Spain”, document her youth.

Unfortunately, because I'm a prat, I lost the envelope with the copies of the pictures in it, as well as her letter and contact details. So, if the girl behind this letter is reading, and still wants to intern, she should email justin@viceuk.com. Everyone else should just insult me at the same address.
