If you're the type who buys presents and you're still scrambling to find something for that niece/nephew/cousin you know could be intensely cool with a smidge of pushing in the direction of danger, why not be the person who they can say later introduced them to Gary Panter? Oh well, you can't cough up $95 for that huge Gary Panter book Picturebox put out earlier this year (shit, we just checked to get that link and it's down to $60 for the holidays so if you want this thing it's now or never), but here are a two less costly options from the man who warped an entire generation's supple young brains for the better.

Gary Panter
(Overheat)This company re-released Gary Panter's album from 1983 which was partially produced by the Residents and is fucking awesome. Gary's got a soothing Texan accent, the music is pretty and jangles nerves. He's been a part of anything interesting ever, but there's something about this record that really reminds me of an aural version Pee Wee's Playhouse. I feel like punching myself in the face for bringing that up since it's talked about too often when explaining to mom and dad who Panter is. But this record is as jarring and fun as that. Not only that but it comes with a large piece of fabric with a Panter drawing silscreened on it, listed as a Gary Panter Freak Flag.
Go Outside
Devin & Gary
(Picturebox)Devin Flynn, animator behind the Ya'll So Stupid cartoons, and Gary Panter, that guy who everybody knows who that is, put out a fun little five song record. It goes from Zappa moments to Residents feelings to completely nothing and then all of a sudden it's something. Highly recommended for people who do drugs to music or are thinking about starting.NICK GAZIN
