GOTH THIS!

If you've been reading Vice's record reviews then you probably know that right now we love Sacred Bones more than almost any other record label. Through a mixture of bribery, begging and threats I've coerced Caleb Braaten, Master of Sacred Bones, to do a label showcase at one of my parties. It took some cajoling but I accomplished my wish and tonight is sure to be a scorcher of an evening if you like music that's dark, imposing and good.

For some reason Nice Face is going on first. Nice Face's record, Immer Etwas is flawless and we declared it the best record of the month. Nice Face is a little punky and a little noisy. It's fucking awesome.

Next is Cult of Youth who sound an awful lot like Death in June in ways that don't suck. I knew the main guy when he was a crusty with dreadlocks. He also had a whole lot of Pokemon VHS tapes. His favorite Pokemon was Jigglypuff. We have talked at length about the beautifully honest and in-your-face consumeristic nature of that whole franchise.

Then Nerve City is playing. These guys put out several amazing records but their best and most recent, Sleepwalker, is on Sacred Bones. Their music has good textures and a meloncholic country vibe to them.

Finally Pop. 1280 is playing. I've never seen them but people have been raving about them to me for months so I am guessing that I will probably like them.

You may believe that this is some knockoff Sacred Bones event but Caleb Braaten will be there DJing so it is certified official. Also we will be giving away some of the beautiful and highly collectible records that Sacred Bones has put out.

It's seven fucking dollars at the funnest bar in Brooklyn, Don Pedro's. This is definitely the best musical event happening all month. Come on down. Doors at 9 PM, Nice Face goes on at ten. Ass.
